Inception and Development of a Green Nickel Strategy

Blackstone Minerals is a Western Australian based mining company operating as an explorer and developer with an international portfolio of battery and precious metals exploration projects. Blackstone Minerals continues to expand its commitment to producing green nickel and has unveiled the first of several initiatives being considered as part of the company’s aim to develop a zero-carbon mining operation and downstream processing facility.

Andrew Strickland
Executive M&A, Blackstone Minerals

Andrew Strickland is an experienced mining executive, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, University of WA MBA graduate, with undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy from Curtin and WASM. After joining Blackstone, Mr Strickland was initially responsible for the development of the Blackstone Ta Khoa Project through PFS and DFS as the head of the projects group. In 2022, Mr Strickland took over leadership of the Blackstone M&A activities.

Before joining Blackstone, Andrew was a Senior Study Manager for GR Engineering Services where he was responsible for delivering a series studies for both Australian and international projects, and over his career, he has held a variety of business development and project development roles across both junior to mid-tier developers (including Straits Resources Ltd, Perseus Mining Ltd and Tiger Resources Ltd) and major multi-operation producers (South32).

Andrew has a demonstrated history of developing mining & metals projects across commodity types including (base metals, precious metals, industrial minerals and iron ore), as well as broad understanding and experience in developing all aspects of mining projects including geology, mine design optimisation and planning, process infrastructure and non-process infrastructure design, environment approvals and permitting, marketing, project estimation, project financial analysis, and financing.
