‘Safety, Health and ESG - Partnering with the METS Community on Technology and R&D’

Stuart Watson, Chief Advisor, Office of the Chief Scientist

Rio Tinto has a strong pedigree in innovation and has invested strongly in technical capability and technical innovation over the last 50 years, breaking through barriers to deliver step change technologies.

Building from this foundation Rio Tinto as part of a combined response to apply technologies in support of the four priorities the CEO, Jakob Stausholm, recently shared: Best Operator, Impeccable ESG credentials, Excel in Development and Social Licence.  In this session, Stuart will talk through how Rio Tinto is positioning its technology focus and especially how it is aiming to strengthen existing and developing new partnerships with Universities, technology companies, governments, suppliers and customers.  On the back of this session, Stuart aims to better understand how METS and Rio Tinto can improve their partnering and build off initiatives like the PioneerPortalTM.
