Building from this foundation Rio Tinto as part of a combined response to apply technologies in support of the four priorities the CEO, Jakob Stausholm, recently shared: Best Operator, Impeccable ESG credentials, Excel in Development and Social Licence. In this session, Stuart will talk through how Rio Tinto is positioning its technology focus and especially how it is aiming to strengthen existing and developing new partnerships with Universities, technology companies, governments, suppliers and customers. On the back of this session, Stuart aims to better understand how METS and Rio Tinto can improve their partnering and build off initiatives like the PioneerPortalTM.

Based in Brisbane, Stuart has 25 years of experience in corporate and business unit leadership roles across Metals & Mining, Oil and Chemicals and is responsible for coordinating the execution of Rio Tinto’s technology and R&D programme.
He has a background in strategy development and its delivery through transformative projects across production, supply chain, sales & marketing, procurement, technology and M&A.
With extensive experience leading corporate price and economic forecasting across bulk commodities and chemicals, Stuart has been with Rio Tinto for 15 years as well as holding leadership roles in Asia, Europe and North America.
