Aeris Resources Tritton Copper Operations, small mines and technology adoption, hard but important.
Tritton Copper Operations in central west NSW is moving to a hub and spoke model where several small mines feed the central ore processing plant. This model is a common approach where aggregating is used to make mining of small deposits profitable.
Small mineral deposits are more common than the big Tier 1 mines, but hard to develop due to capital intensity challenges. The small mines have the greatest need for the leverage that innovation and technology provide, but they often struggle with the risks, cost, and people skills required to make technology implementation successful. Both miners and METS suppliers struggle with this challenge and so the big mining companies with big deposits, cash and capacity get the attention.
How do the smaller mines acquire and implement the technology that is so important to their development and success?
